ABOUT
Amand Weaver has worked in the screen industry for more than 35 years, contributing both in front of the camera and across a wide range of production departments. With a solid background in martial arts, he began his stunt career in 1995 on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, later doubling and performing in a variety of television series and films throughout Aotearoa and overseas.
After several years working as an assistant director, Amand returned to stunt work with a renewed focus on mastering the fundamentals of action design, performance, and rigging. Over time he has built a reputation for turning complex ideas into practical, safe, and visually striking stunt sequences. Colleagues consistently describe him as a creative problem‑solver who brings precision, calm leadership, and a strong safety‑first mindset to every project. Producers and directors praise his ability to take challenging concepts and make them achievable, while maintaining a positive, energetic presence on set. Performers often comment on his clear communication, supportive teaching style, and the confidence he inspires in others.
Amand’s work spans stunt performance, stunt doubling, fire work, weaponry, fight choreography, wire rigging, and full stunt coordination. His approach blends technical rigging expertise with a collaborative, solutions‑focused attitude, making him a valued partner on productions ranging from short films to large‑scale international projects.
Alongside his screen work, Amand teaches at the New Zealand Stunt School, where he shares his extensive experience with emerging performers. His teaching reflects the same qualities noted by his colleagues: clarity, patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for helping others develop safe and effective stunt skills.
